Hawks suffer tough league loss to ‘Burg MIAMISBURG — The Fairborn Skyhawks softball team took a tough 1-0 loss to league rival Miamisburg on Wednesday night.
Courtnie Spain pitched a strong game despite the loss through seven innings of work. She gave up just three hits while striking out 12 batters and walking one.
Miamisburg’s lone run, which came in the sixth inning, was unearned.
Fairborn finished with just two hits. Brittany Duncan and Kylie Wallace each had singles, and Jenifer Neel reached base on an error to round out Fairborn’s three baserunners.
“We’re just not hitting the ball right now,” said Fairborn head coach Bob Shively.
Fairborn will take on Mother of Mercy in a doubleheader on Friday, and next Monday the Skyhawks will open up tournament play at home against Little Miami.
