Beavercreek’s Neil Diesslin attempts to tip the ball over a Fairborn defender during boys volleyball action at Beavercreek High School on Wednesday night.
BEAVERCREEK — Neil Diesslin had 13 kills and the Beavercreek boys’ volleyball rolled to a three game victory over struggling Fairborn, 25-18, 25-13, 25-7 on Wednesday night at Beavercreek High School.
Diesslin added five service aces and five digs for the Beavers (9-2), who hope to continue their strong play at a tri-match this weekend at Chaminade Julienne.
“The guys are having an excellent year. With 10 seniors, the leadership their showing on court has been fantastic,” said Beavercreek head coach Carol Bysak. “Our record shows that leadership. Most of these guys have been with me for four years, and they’re starting to execute.”
The Beavers steadily pulled away in game one, breaking a 4-4 tie and never trailing the rest of the way. In the second game, Beavercreek started on an 8-0 run but saw the Skyhawks pull within three points at one point before picking its game up and steamrolling to the finish. The third and final game was never in doubt, as ‘Creek won the final 11 points to seal the victory.
“We did like we normally do, which is play well for part of the game and then lose our mental focus and act like we haven’t played before,” said Fairborn head coach Eric Marthaler. “We lose points and we get down.”
Fairborn was led by Dylan Romans with two kills, three blocks and one ace. David Choi also had a kill and a block.
The Hawks (1-10) suffered a serious setback earlier in the season when setter Ryan Doster went out with an ankle injury against Alter.
Beavercreek’s Trent Kline had 21 assists, and Spencer Simmons and Ben McGriff had four blocks each.
