Hawk softball beats Springboro FAIRBORN — Sophie Bolser pitched solid and helped herself at the plate in leading Fairborn to a 7-4 victory over Springboro in a conference matchup on Monday night.
Bolser (4-2) pitched 6.1 innings of five-hit, seven-strikeout, three-walk ball against the Panthers. She went 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs.
Jenifer Neel went 3-for-4 with double and one RBIs, Brittany Duncan went 1-for-3 with an RBI, Sarah Lilley went 1-for-4, Chelsea Reed went 1-for-3 with a run, Kylie Wallace went 1-for-3, Becca Davis went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and Kaylie Moore went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice and two runs scored.
Courtnie Spain got the save with two strikeouts and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.
The Skyhawks (11-5, 3-2 GWOC) took third place in the Sarah Huelsman Invitational over the weekend. Carroll won the tournament, beating Xenia 7-5 in the championship game.
In the first game, Fairborn recorded five hits but committed three errors in the field in a 3-2 loss to Carroll.
Bolser got the loss despite 10 strikeouts and one walk. All three Carroll runs were unearned.
Ronnie Burns got the win for Carroll.
Lilley, coming back from an ACL injury she suffered before basketball season, had two hits and scored two runs. She also had a 3-for-4 outing with two doubles and three RBIs in Fairborn’s 7-1 victory over Tecumseh in the third place game.
Spain pitched a no-hitter for the Hawks, striking out five, walking five and hitting one batter.
Wallace added a single with two RBIs, Duncan had a double, and Neel, Bolser, Reed and Wallace had singles.
“In two games we gave up only three hits but we lost one of the games,” said Fairborn head coach Bob Shively. “Obviously that shouldn’t happen. We should win those games.”

SPRINGFIELD — The Greeneview Lady Rams beat Catholic Central 3-1 on Monday night.
Brooklyn Dean got the win pitching for Greeneview. She struck out 10.
Amber Chenowith and Emily McCauley had singles for the Lady Rams.
