Hawks can’t seal deal in loss Xenia falls on the road to Springboro LEBANON — The Skyhawks had 10 hits and were knocking on the door in the seventh, but they couldn’t seal the deal in a 5-2 loss to rival Lebanon on Wednesday night.
In its final at bat, Fairborn had the bases loaded with one out after hits from Jenifer Neel and Sophie Bolser and a walk to Brittany Duncan. Jessie Little hit a shot to left field right at a Lebanon defender for the second out, and Fairborn grounded out on the next play to end the game.
Neel finished 3-for-4 with a run scored, Bolser went 2-for-3, Duncan went 1-for-3 with an RBI, Kylie Wallace went 2-for-4, Chelsea Reed went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI and Becca Davis went 1-for-3 for Fairborn (9-3 overall, 2-1 GWOC South).
The Skyhawks scored twice in the first inning, but couldn’t add anything else over the next six innings against Lebanon pitcher Bethany Campbell.
“We had our chances, but we didn’t come through,” said Fairborn head coach Bob Shively.
Fairborn’s Courtnie Spain (6-3) took the loss. She pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits while striking out four, walking five and hitting two batters. The Hawks had two errors in the field.

Bucs fall on the road
SPRINGBORO — Xenia lost on the road, 9-3, to Springboro on Wednesday night.
Xenia combined for eight hits in the defeat. Tara McCann had a home run and one RBI, Maegan Pendleton had two RBI and Lauren Adams and Jennifer George
Lauren Adams got the loss on the mound for the Bucs. She struck out three, walked four and gave up nine hits to the Panthers.
The Bucs committed three defensive errors.
“We quit playing for two innings,” said Xenia head coach Greg Paxson. “You can’t do that and expect to win.”
