Fairborn beats Beavercreek in 7th FAIRBORN — Fairborn manufactured a seventh-inning run to pull out a 4-3 walk-off victory over Beavercreek Monday evening in varsity softball action.
With the game tied at three, Courtnie Spain walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh and Chelsea Reed pinch-ran for Spain. Reed stole second base and advanced to third on a fielder’s choice. Reed then came home with the winning run on another fielder’s choice.
Sophie Bolser got the start in the circle for Fairborn (8-2) and pitched 6.1 innings. She allowed three runs, only one earned, and gave up seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Spain came in for Bolser and retired two batters, both by strikeout, to pick up her fifth win of the season.
Brittany Duncan, who didn’t start due to injury, came up with a pinch-hit two-run double that was the big hit of the game for the Skyhawks. Hannah Gillespie had an RBI single for Fairborn, while Jenifer Neel and Bolser also had one single apiece. Kylie Wallace went 1-for-1 with two walks.
For Beavercreek (7-6), Lizzy VanSant and Kayla Michael had two singles apiece, while Sarah Eodice, Myers and Robinson all had one hit each.
Northmont 8, Xenia 2
XENIA — Northmont scored four runs in the first inning and cruised to an 8-2 victory over Xenia on Monday evening.
Xenia (4-5) only had four hits as a team and committed three errors. Maegan Pendleton had both of Xenia’s RBIs on a two-run double.
Lauren Adams got the loss for Xenia in the circle.
