Spain, Skyhawks stifle West Carrollton FAIRBORN — Courtnie Spain gave up just one hit and the Fairborn Skyhawks softball team defeated West Carrollton 3-0 in a make up game on Wednesday evening.
Spain struck out 12 batters with just three walks in a complete game against the Pirates (2-3).
“Courtnie pitched a great game,” said Fairborn head coach Bob Shively.
The Skyhawks (6-0) collected eight hits in the victory. Jessie Little went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Sophie Bolser went 2-for-2 with a double, Hannah Gillespie went 1-for-3 with a run scored, Kaila Mohr went 1-for-2 and Kylie Wallace went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Fairborn.
The Hawks scored once in the second and twice in the sixth to secure the victory.
“We played a pretty good game and West Carrollton is a good team,” Shively said. “We had some timely hitting, strung some hits together over those two innings and we were able to come out with a pretty big win.”
Weather permitting, Fairborn travels to take on Lakota East and Mercy today in a double header starting at 11:30 a.m.
