XENIA — Sandra Hutchison, of Xenia, and Jordan Basinger, of Jamestown, took top honors in their classes at the lamb cook-off Sunday at the Greene County Fair. Hutchison earned the blue ribbon in the adult/senior class with her lemon lamb pasta. Basinger took the blue in the junior division with his pulled lamb shoulder.

“Lamb can be kind of a little funny of a type of meat,” contest co-judge Linda Dyke said. “It’s also one where a lot of people are hesitant … We always look for the way it’s prepared and the way it first hits your palate in a sense.”

Co-judge Dan Dyke spoke highly of Basinger’s pulled lamb shoulder entry before noting that Hutchison’s lamb pasta “without a doubt … would have the best lamb flavor bar none” of the contest field.

Junior Class – 1st: Jordan Basinger, 2nd: Wade Hutchison, 3rd: Kolby Mueller. Adult/Senior Class – 1st: Sandra Hutchison; 2nd: Jenny Linebaugh; 3rd: Pauletta Evans.
