Dealing with god’s wrath

0

“For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.” (John 3:34-36)

God’s wrath is a given for humankind. Our rejection and rebellion are complete. We have turned from our Creator to raise up ourselves as our own gods. This wrath remains with us unless God chooses to do something about it. There is no way that we can appease our wrathful God. There are not enough good works that we can perform to make that wrath go away. Only He can make His wrath go away by sending the perfect sacrifice for our sins, Jesus. Placing our trust in Jesus causes God’s wrath to vanish, allowing His love to shine through.

We don’t realize how serious sin is. Sin is everything opposed to God. Therefore, it cannot be accepted by God. This unacceptable sin naturally brings the wrath of God. He hates sin and those who habitually live in it are under His judgment. This is fact! Yet, there is also the fact, that, God chose to do something about our hopeless condition. He sent His Son, Jesus, to be the Answer to His wrath. Jesus took that wrath on the cross. He absorbed all of it. Now those who trust Him find their sin also absorbed in Him. Thus, we can stand before our God knowing we have an eternity with Him.

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son to take our sin, absorb our sin on the cross. You opened to us the way of eternal life and it is through Your Son, Jesus. May our lives be lived to Your glory, always remembering the sacrifice of love You made for us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
