XENIA — The Holy Trinity Missionary Society will feature the Rev. Lucinda Burgess as its guest speaker during the 11 a.m. worship service June 29. She will provide thoughts on the topic: “One Big Happy Family: Finding Peace in the Home.”
Born in Sandys Parish, Bermuda, Rev. Burgess holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, with a certificate in education, from Morgan State University. Rev. Burgess received a Divinity degree from Baltimore School of Divinity and went on to earn her advanced professional teaching certificate from the Maryland State Department of Education.
In Bermuda, Rev. Burgess worked with students at Cedarbridge Academy High School, served as a learning support teacher for the Challenging and Modified Program students at Berkeley Institute High School and associate minister at Bright Temple A.M.E. Church. At Bright Temple, she was the director of Christian education, church school superintendent, Y.P.D. director, choreographer of the BT High Praisers and director of “Christian Teen Talk,” a ministry that she created. Rev. Burgess also served as the secretary for the Bermuda Conference Women in Ministry and sat on the Christian education and church school boards.
In the U.S., Rev. Burgess served as an associate minister, the minister to youth, chair of the Women’s Ministry, choreographer of the Dance Ministry at Mt. Zion AME Church in Long Green, Md . She was also President of the Greater Mt. Zion Community Organization. Rev. Burgess is a Master of Divinity candidate at Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce and currently serves as an associate minister, Young Adult School teacher, and instructor of women’s Bible study at Greater Allen AME church in Dayton.
