CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University accounting graduates had the highest pass rate among Ohio colleges and universities on the 2013 Certified Public Accountant exam, according to a report released by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.

Cedarville alumni who took the CPA exam for the first time in 2013 earned a pass rate of 78.4 percent. The national average pass rate for overall performance is 49.4 percent.

In national rankings, Cedarville ranked 24th out of 787 colleges and universities. The CPA exam consists of four sections that amount to 14 hours of testing. Candidates must pass the exam to qualify for licensure as CPAs. Loren Reno, dean of the school of business administration, said this achievement demonstrates Cedarville’s leadership in the field of accounting.
