It was a typical morning for me.
The children were off to school and my wife headed to her work. I sat reading and studying God’s Word at the kitchen table which flanked a big window. Occasionally, I would stop for prayer and then pause to look outside at the wonderful beauty God created for us to enjoy.
Finally, I noticed outside the big window a nicely woven spider web. I hadn’t recognized it previously, but now two insects were trapped in the web.
I thought that’s the way it is with the wiles (or trickery) of the devil. Before we humans are aware of the deceiver’s traps, we are many times already in them. They are hard to see just as the spider web.
The Holy Bible warns us to resist the devil, “Be sober, be vigilant (watchful); because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
Our adversary or enemy is the devil (also called Satan in the Word of God). Jesus Christ said our enemy was a thief, coming to seal, kill and to destroy, but the Savior stated in the same passage in John 10:10 that He (Jesus) came that we might have life and have in more abundantly.
The sooner humans realize that there is none like God and He is more powerful, and wants each of us to know Him through a personal relationship with His son Jesus, the sooner we’ll triumphant over the tricks of the devil.
Remember, God is only in control of what we surrender to Him. Victory in this life is ours if we make the right CHOICE.
