Beavercreek Orange wins GWOC Gold title

CENTERVILLE — The Beavercreek girls eighth grade Orange team defeated Springboro Blue 36-17 to win the Greater Western Ohio Conference Gold Bracket Championship, Feb. 15 at Watts Middle School. Orange achieved complete mastery of the glass, netting a season-best 37 rebounds. All 10 Orange players contributed to the Championship win. The team finished with a 16-1 record under first-year head coach Jamie Prunest. Team members are: Allie Steineman, Carmen Williams, Angel Ledesma, Megan Debay, Sarah Laughman, Stephanie Pierce, Abby Steineman, Michaela Rhoases, Maya Dunson, Nikki Scowden, Team manager Saphira Abrahamson and coach Jamie Prunest.


Sharks hungry for stuffed animals

DAYTON — The Dayton Sharks Professional Indoor Football Team are asking fans to bring a Teddy Bear or a gently used stuffed animal to the team’s next home game at 4 p.m., on Sunday, March 9 at Hara Arena. When the Dayton Sharks score their first touchdown, the Sharks request that fans throw their stuffed Animals out onto the playing field. The stuffed animals will then be gathered up and donated to the kids at Dayton Children’s Hospital, The Ronald McDonald House Foundation, and The Dayton Boys and Girls Clubs.


Action Sports announces softball tourney schedule

DAYTON — Action Sports will be running girls fast pitch softball tournaments this summer. The sports complex, located on 1103 Gateway Dr. in Dayton, will be offering USSSA and ASA qualifiers. Action Sports offers six skinned softball fields, state of the art lighting for night games and a red brick dust which helps prevent rain outs. Fairborn Girls Softball Association registration today

FAIRBORN — Fast-pitch and Slow-pitch summer softball registrations will take place from 9-11 a.m. and 12-2 p.m. today, March 1, at the Inside Scoop Ice Cream shop, located at 1084 Kauffman Ave. in Fairborn. The Fairborn Girls Softball Association (FGSA) welcomes girls from all communities. The slow-pitch league is for girls ages 5-20 and will be played at Fairborn Community Park. The Fast-pitch league is for 10U-18U teams and will be played at Fairfield Park. Individual fees are $65 for the first player, $55 for the second. Arnold 5K set for Sunday

COLUMBUS — The 14th annual Arnold 5K will be held on Sunday, March 2 in downtown Columbus. The race is part of the Arnold Sports Festival Weekend. All entrants receive an Arnold 5K race T-shirt and a free entry ($15 value) to the 26th annual Arnold Sports Festival after the race, plus the top 500 finishers receive Arnold 5K medals.
